21 Nov Cancelled US Tour Update

Back in 2003 we investigated Joy Division's cancelled 1980 US tour and collated what little information we had on its own page. We knew that New Order played the venues later that year so we started with that list, which included Maxwell,s, Hoboken, New Jersey. We later added Bogart's, Cincinnati based on a rumour.

After lots of research, Mainly by Nick Blakey, we are confident that neither of these venues were slated for the 1980 tour so we have removed them from the listings.

28 Feb Happy 21st Birthday to us!

Joy Division Central began life 21 years ago on 28 February 1998, some 21 years after Joy Division themselves started rehearsing, as a four week project for Marko to catalogue the various Joy Division bootlegs flooding the market. It may have stayed a short project if Erik hadn't sent in about 30 pages of corrections and become the co owner of the site ....

Originally called Joy Division: The Bootlegs, then Shadow Factory, we finally settled on Joy Division Central as our site's name.

Click image for an April 1999 version of the site.

So many people have helped us over the years that it's dangerous to make a list but special thanks must go to Oyvind, Mikey, Indiearchivist, Shirley, Chris Warren, Julian, Nick Blakey, Mark Gale, Sam Habash, Mark Woodley, and Simon Dell who all contributed a lot to make the site what it is.

22 Feb Unseen last Joy Division concert photo surfaces in Peter Hook Auction

Omega Auctions forthcoming Peter Hook Signature Collection includes a lot of interesting items and the photo below is no exception. Featured in Omega's pre-auction exhibition, the High Hall photo was bought along with one other at Cards & Posters collectibles shop in Dale End, Birmingham about a week after the final concert, the one featured on Still.

The Peter Hook Signature Collection Auction is on March 2nd

We are always interested in unpublished Joy Division photos especially those taken by audience members. If you took any please get in touch - even if you think they're not good enough to be of interest
