3rd June 1977: The Squat, Manchester
|
Part of
the "Stuff the Jubilee" festival - also on the
bill were the Fall, the Drones, the Worst, and the
Negatives (with Paul Morley on guitar and
photographer Kevin Cummins on drums).
John the Postman joined Warsaw on stage to
sing Louie Louie.
"The Squat was
situated in a decrepit building that had once
been the home of the Royal Manchester College of
Music. When the College revealed plans to
demolish the building, it was occupied by
students who then successfully campaigned for it
to be turned into a live music venue". Simon

The poster and the flyer for this gig had the wrong date
- June 6th wasn't a Friday. It looks like they got Friday
6th May mixed up with Friday 3rd June. The Newspaper
Advert above confirms it was June 3rd and the poster has
been hand corrected.
